How we use AI

The chat on our website is answered by an AI assistant. The chat window says so, and if you ask whether you are talking to AI, it tells you. A person reads every conversation.

The assistant answers from what we have taught it: our services, our prices and our rules. Before it sends anything, it scores how sure it is. When it is sure, it replies straight away, at any hour. When it is not, it holds the reply for a person, tells you it is checking and may ask for your email, so that we can reach you.

It keeps to hard rules. It never gives a discount, agrees a final price or books anything in. Only a written quote from us is an offer.

If you allow chat helpers in our cookie settings, the assistant can see which pages you have looked at, and may say hello first when you seem interested. If you do not, it only sees what you type to it.

You can ask for a person at any time, and you can rate a conversation with a thumbs up or down. A thumbs down comes straight to us.

Messages sent through the chat, our forms and our email go to OpenRouter, which passes them to Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. Both companies are in the United States.

The assistant is sent the conversation so far, your name and business if you have given them, and the facts of your project if you are signed in to PoPIt Pad. It is not sent your IP address. Our privacy policy explains what else happens to your messages and how long we keep them.

We set a monthly spending cap and limits on how much the assistant can be used, so it cannot be run up by misuse.

We use AI the way a good joiner uses power tools: for the donkey work. It helps with research, with checking our work and with testing every page on every screen size.

People do the parts you are paying for: the ideas, the design, the words and every decision. Everything we hand over has been made or checked by a person on our team.

The quick taster report in PoPIt Pad is made automatically, from measurements of your website. The full audit report is checked by a person before it reaches you.

In PoPIt Pad, AI can draft a note about how your project is going. A person reads and approves every note before you see it.

We do not use AI to:

• make decisions about you that have a legal or similarly serious effect;
• write reviews or testimonials, or invent results;
• pretend to be a person; or
• agree prices, discounts or bookings.

AI can be wrong. If an answer matters to you, ask for a person, and if something the assistant said was wrong, please tell us so we can put it right and teach it.
